Current competition-confirmed names

The 2026 German International Shrimp Contest (TGISC) results confirm that the following names are active breeder/competition forms

The published results identify entrants/breeders of the submitted competition animals, not necessarily the original creator of each strain. Aquapedia must not convert “winner bred by X” into “strain invented by X” unless a separate source establishes creation.

The North American International Shrimp Contest currently recognizes broader classes including Blue & Red Bolt, Blue & Red Steel, Snow White variants, Fishbone/Galaxy/Snowflake, Orange-Eyed non-tiger Caridina, Fancy Tiger, Nanashi/Nanancy, Boa, and innovation/crossbreeding. This is useful evidence that those names represent established hobby categories, but not their historical provenance.

Naming rules and collisions requiring explicit handling

1. Ocean Blue — currently sold as both Neocaridina and Caridina; keep genus explicit.

2. Galaxy Tiger — unresolved/wild-import Caridina sp. versus designer Galaxy/Tiger hybrid families.

3. Snowflake / Snowfall — descriptive pattern words used across HWA-origin Snowfall lines and unrelated/refined breeder lines.
